Genmar IT: Celebrating 30 Years in Business Through a Strategic LinkedIn Campaign

At Strong Social London, we believe significant business milestones deserve more than a single celebratory post. They offer an opportunity to tell a story, recognise the people behind a business and strengthen relationships with the customers, partners and wider industry community who have supported its journey.

We were delighted to support a family-run IT support provider, Genmar IT, as it approached its 30th anniversary, developing a LinkedIn content strategy across both the company page and its Managing Director's personal profile.

With three decades of experience supporting UK businesses, the anniversary presented the perfect opportunity to reflect on the Genmar IT’s history, celebrate its achievements and look ahead to the next chapter.

Our focus was to bring this story to life through a series of thoughtful, engaging LinkedIn posts that balanced company milestones with personal storytelling.

Celebrating 30 Years of Business History

Founded in 1996 by Garry Moore, what began as a small residential PC repair business had evolved into an established managed IT support provider serving more than 150 businesses.

The anniversary campaign was built around this journey, highlighting the key milestones that had shaped the business over three decades.

We developed a series of LinkedIn posts exploring:

  • 1996 – The Beginning: Founded as a family-run residential PC repair business.

  • 2010 – A New Direction: Expanding into managed IT support for local businesses.

  • 2015 – The Next Generation: James joining the business as it continued to grow.

  • 2021 – A New Chapter: Transitioning to a fully business-focused IT provider, with James taking on the role of Managing Director.

  • 2025 – Strengthening Security: Achieving ISO 27001 certification.

  • 2026 – 30 Years of Growth: Supporting more than 150 businesses with a team of 26.

By sharing these milestones, we created an opportunity to demonstrate how the business had evolved while reinforcing the experience, expertise and relationships built along the way.

Bringing the Anniversary to Life Through Visual Storytelling

To make the anniversary content more engaging, we developed a visual storytelling approach that brought Genmar IT’s history to life.

Using archive photographs and historical imagery, we created a dedicated 30-year journey carousel, taking audiences through the different stages of the business.

Each slide highlighted a particular period or milestone, allowing followers to see how the company had developed over time.

Rather than relying on generic anniversary graphics, the creative focused on real people, genuine moments and the history behind the business.

This helped make the campaign feel authentic and personal, celebrating not just how far the Genmar IT had come, but the people who had made it possible.

Developing the Managing Director's Personal LinkedIn Presence

Alongside the company page, we developed content for the Managing Director's personal LinkedIn profile, recognising the importance of putting a face and personality behind the business.

While the company page focused on the wider business journey, James' content offered a more personal perspective on what 30 years meant to him, his family and the team.

We explored themes including:

  • Working alongside his father and learning the business from the ground up.

  • Taking on the responsibility of leading the company into its next chapter.

  • Growing the team and evolving the services offered.

  • Building a business around long-standing client relationships.

  • Recognising the people who have contributed to its success.

  • Sharing personal reflections on leadership, growth and the future.

This gave the anniversary campaign an additional layer of storytelling, allowing audiences to connect with the person behind the business rather than only the services it provides.

It also helped establish a more consistent personal LinkedIn presence, positioning James as an approachable business leader with valuable experience and insight to share.

Creating Two Complementary LinkedIn Strategies

One of the most important elements of the project was ensuring the company page and personal profile worked together rather than simply repeating the same content.

We developed distinct approaches for each channel.

The Business LinkedIn Page

The company page focused on the wider Genmar story, sharing historical milestones, company achievements, team celebrations and anniversary announcements.

The content was designed to reinforce the business's reputation, demonstrate its experience and celebrate the people and relationships behind its success.

The Managing Director's Personal Profile

James' profile focused on leadership, personal reflections and the story behind the business.

By sharing his own experiences, memories and perspective on the company's evolution, we introduced a more human element to the anniversary campaign.

Together, these two approaches created a consistent narrative while allowing each profile to communicate in its own voice.

Building Credibility Through Business Achievements

An anniversary is also an opportunity to remind audiences why a business has remained successful.

Alongside the historical storytelling, we highlighted the achievements that demonstrated the company's continued development and commitment to its clients.

These included its transition into business-focused IT support, the growth of its team to 26 people, supporting more than 150 businesses and achieving ISO 27001 certification.

By incorporating these milestones into the content strategy, we helped communicate more than longevity. We demonstrated how the business had continued to adapt, invest and develop its expertise over 30 years.

Celebrating the People Behind the Business

The anniversary campaign extended beyond company history and professional achievements.

We also helped communicate the importance of the people behind the business, using the milestone as an opportunity to recognise the team, clients and partners who had contributed to its journey.

Following the anniversary celebrations, content focused on bringing the team together and reflecting on the importance of the relationships built over three decades.

This people-led approach helped reinforce the company's family-run heritage and created a more personal connection with its LinkedIn audience.

Supporting the Next Chapter

A 30th anniversary is a significant achievement, but it is also an opportunity to look forward.

Through strategic LinkedIn content across both the company page and Managing Director's personal profile, we helped turn an important business milestone into a wider brand communications campaign.

From historical storytelling and milestone carousels to personal leadership content and anniversary celebrations, every post played a role in communicating the company's experience, values and continued ambition.

At Strong Social London, we help businesses use social media to communicate more than just what they do. We create content strategies that bring company stories to life, build personal brands and strengthen connections with the audiences that matter.

Whether you're celebrating a business milestone, developing your company LinkedIn page or building a stronger personal presence as a business owner, we help you communicate your story with purpose.
